“Meditation is a state of complete tranquility and transcendental freedom from everything. While merged in knowledge, consciousness, superconsciousness, cosmic consciousness, and ultimately supreme wisdom.” Paramhansa prajananda. It is engaging in mental exercises, such as concentrating on breathing. There are many forms of meditation, but true meditation is a complete union with God, emerging in total stillness and silence. It is the art of expressing silent love for God, as mentioned by master Paramahamsa Prajananda in his book “The Torah, The Bible, and Kriya Yoga.” Excellent read, by the way.
True meditation is a time in space when you and God become one. It is a transcendental experience. It is like no other experience that you can experience in this reality. True meditation exists in a space where God dwells, in the absolute realm. Where complete tranquility exists, it is a space where nothing exists but God. No thoughts, no matter, not even your body.
You can only achieve proper meditation by introverting the mind and external senses; our minds are always extroverted as humans. We are always paying attention to what is happening on the outside rather than on the inside. To achieve the state of pure meditation, one must constantly practice pulling their concentration inward and traveling upwards. This is a challenging thing to do. It takes a lot of patience, hard work, and dedication. It is a great practice to begin developing yourself on a deeper level, mentally and spiritually.
If you are a beginner and wish to begin practicing meditation, understanding that meditation is an extensive practice will help you along the way. Mediation is something you must practice consistently and eventually become better at over time. It takes time and patience; you will need to start slow. Below is a beginner’s meditation technique to practice daily.
Create a schedule: Choose how often you would like to meditate; the more consistent you are, the better; I recommend five times a week.
Please choose a time: Block off a specific time to practice; I recommend Early in the morning or before bed. Practicing at the same time each day will help you quickly make it a habit; your body will eventually recognize and adjust to this new habit.
Do it alone and in silence: Make sure nothing can interrupt you during this time, no phone, tv, kids, etc. This will require complete silence and no interruptions.
The technique: Practice this breathing technique at least five times a week; you will begin in small increments of 5 minutes, slowly working your way up to 60 minutes. Get the free downloadable technique here.
Practice this technique five times a week. For the 1st month, practice for 5-10 minutes. The following month 20 minutes, and so on. Slowly work your way up to 60 minutes every month. With continued practice, you will start noticing the miraculous effects of meditation on your mind and body. You will begin to gain control of your mind and thoughts and ultimately gain control of your life. Remember that patience is essential.
