Who are you? You’ve probably been asked this question 1000 times. The typical answer to this question is your name, age, and what you do for a living. But this is only an introduction to the persona you choose to embody. Who you are is much greater than just a name and an occupation. You are so much bigger than that. Discovering who you are requires a lot of patience, understanding, and experience. It is a challenging journey. But it is a journey that is worth beginning. Below are four tips to help you discover and embody who you are.
The journey to self-realization requires an open mind and a constant change of perspective. You must be willing to let go of 85% of what you know is true. Only when you let go of your current perspective can you begin to understand a new one. How you choose to engage in life is not serving you. You are most likely ready for a vast transformation. You will know this is the case when nothing is working, you can do everything in your power to develop yourself and facilitate growth, but you still seem stuck. This is because you engage with these obstacles the same way over and over again. You must adopt a new way of engaging with life.
Education has always been an essential part of the development of human beings. Everything you know was instilled into you by a teacher or a parent. But as you grow, these outdated teachings will no longer serve you. Instead of helping you grow, they will hinder your growth. It is imperative to educate yourself on your human nature. To discover and embrace who you truly are, you must understand what it means to be human. You must find your own truth. Study what you are called to study, Weather that is the bible, the Torah, the Quran, or any other religious books. Whatever it is that will help you understand yourself and our connection to Source. Study it, and obtain your own understanding from the great works of true masters.
Practice makes perfect; this is a known fact. To truly master a craft, you must continuously work to improve yourself. “Faith without works is dead.” Your faith in whatever you are trying to achieve is dead without the work. If you wish to discover and embody the highest version of yourself, You must work to do so. Read and study the books, but do the work as well. It is a 50/50 relationship between you and God. Anything is possible, but nothing is possible without hard work and dedication.
To progress along the spiritual journey, one needs the assistance of a realized master—a person who has attained complete union with God by spiritual contemplation and self-surrender. Jesus is an excellent example of a great master. The master is loving, sweet, kind, and caring and gradually awakens each disciple spiritually. Good company can cause transformation. The true master has always been within you. It is the highest version of yourself, and as you work to become one with it, it will guide you to truth and light. Seek guidance and truth from the soul within. It will never lead you astray. Meditation is a great way to withdraw from an external to an internal perspective. Learn more about meditation here.
